Hewri Tote Bag
A fabric that carries an entire culture.
The Hewrî, also known as Desrey Sirkeyî, is a traditional Kurdish fabric worn in the south and east of Kurdistan. With its distinctive patterns in various variations and colors, it is worn by Kurdish women as part of their traditional dress: as a headscarf, as a garment, in everyday life as well as at celebrations. The Hewrî is particularly well known in the colors black, red and white, exactly the colors that define this bag.
Today, the Hewrî with its unique patterns has become an ethnic symbol. A sign of origin, identity and cultural memory. It is not a decorative pattern. It is an expression of what remains when everything else is attempted to be erased.
This Hewrî cotton tote bag brings the Hewrî motif into the city. Made from 100% cotton, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, with long shoulder straps.
Culture is not a museum piece. It is worn.
